Apple has introduced the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, designed with the all-new A18 chip and built for Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligence system that offers relevant, helpful insights while ensuring user privacy. The new models feature Camera Control for enhanced photography, an Action button for quick access to key functions, and a significant boost in battery life.

The iPhone 16 lineup showcases a 48MP Fusion camera with a 2x Telephoto option, providing users with two cameras in one, and an Ultra Wide camera for macro photography. Next-generation Photographic Styles allow for personalized images, while spatial photo and video capture let users relive memories with stunning depth on Apple Vision Pro. The A18 chip delivers exceptional performance, enabling demanding AAA games and extending battery life.

Available in five vibrant colors—black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine—pre-orders for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus begin on Friday, September 13, with availability starting Friday, September 20.

“The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus usher in a new era for iPhone, powered by Apple Intelligence to offer personalized, private experiences,” said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. “With innovative ways to explore the world and capture memories, a powerful 48MP Fusion camera, extended battery life, and the efficiency of the A18 chip, this is the perfect time for customers to upgrade or switch to iPhone.”

Apple Intelligence, powered by Apple silicon and advanced generative models, understands and creates language and images, streamlines tasks across apps, and adapts to personal contexts while maintaining privacy with Private Cloud Compute. This new feature, rolling out as a free software update next month in U.S. English, represents a significant advancement in privacy for AI.

Siri, now more deeply integrated into the system, features a sleek new design with a glowing light around the screen’s edge when activated. With enhanced language-understanding capabilities, Siri makes communication more natural, follows conversations smoothly, and retains context across multiple requests. Users can seamlessly switch between typing and voice commands, with Siri now equipped with extensive product knowledge to answer thousands of questions about Apple devices.

Additional Apple Intelligence features, including Image Playground for creating playful images and Genmoji for generating original emojis, will be released later this year and in the coming months. Siri will also gain the ability to take action based on users’ content, integrate with Apple and third-party apps, and access tools like ChatGPT from OpenAI while using iOS 18 features.
